Sony is claiming another first with its Gran Turismo racing franchise, by packing over 800 supercars into the PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld entertainment system.

Gran Turismo for PSP is the first portable version of the biggest, most realistic car racing series. Like its older sibling, this Gran Turismo is packed with speed, supercars and 35 stunning, real-life racetracks to race on your own or head-to-head against up to three friends at once.

With more than 52 million sales since its first incarnation in 1997, Gran Turismo is famous for its realism and innovative features.

The title’s biggest new feature is car trading, a new way to play where gamers can unlock and trade cars with their friends to obtain the full collection of 800 incredibly detailed cars. You’ll earn new cars by winning races and completing challenges.

Sony claims that developers Polyphony Digital has managed to recreate the Gran Turismo experience for PSP without losing any of the realism and excitement.

Gran Turismo for PSP is available now.
