News: Panasonic releases high-end plasmas

Panasonic has released the Premiere Home Theatre Plasma Series comprising two large plasmas primed for the high-end market.
These are the 50-inch TH-50VX100 and the 65-inch TH-65VX100U.
The Premiere panels are exactly what the name implies: the best plasmas money can buy, hand-built with the finest components using the latest technology.
Panasonic claims that the Premiere panels are as close to picture-perfection as technology allows in 2009.
Pitched towards home theatre installations, the panels will be available only from high-end stores who can provide a full installation service or advice.
The panels also come with a free calibration, a service technician with all the right gear to get the panel looking the best it possibly can. This procedure can take up to four hours.
The panels deliver full HD 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) resolution and a 60,000:1 contrast ratio, as well as “industry-leading” colour gradation level of 7,160 steps.
“Panasonic’s 18-bit digital signal processing produces a detailed graduation from light to dark, with faithful expression of subtle colour differences. The moving picture resolution of over 900 lines reproduces clear, crisp and smooth images for impeccable reproduction of fast-moving scenes.”
Almost endlessly customisable, the two premiere models are tailor made for the quality smart-home or home theatre installation.
The 50-inch retails for $12,000, and the 65-inch is a cinch at $20,000.
