News: Nokia launches highly-anticipated N97

« The Wave (Madman) | Sony launches first netbook »

The Nokia N97 will be available in New Zealand from mid-July, and Nokia claims it combines the best of a mobile phone and a personal computer to create “the world’s most powerful multi-media, multi-sensory mobile computer.”

Nokia’s flagship mobile computer features a unique 3.5-inch sliding tilt-display and widescreen ideal for video, gaming and browsing, while offering an intuitive user interface with choice of QWERTY keyboard and touch.

The N97 features a 5 megapixel camera with integrated Carl Zeiss optics for high quality photos and VGA-like video recording, 32GB built in storage, a digital music player and Nokia Maps.

The handset’s customisable home screen brings “live” widget feeds such as social networking destinations, news services, shopping, sport and weather information direct to the device.

“The N97 delivers on our promise to create a highly personalised internet experience similar to what you would expect from a PC, but with the benefits of mobility and immediacy,” says Emile Baak, Nokia Australia and NZ Managing Director.
