News: Nintendo DS goes 3D
Since the two bog-standard dimensions we’re using for video games now aren’t nearly enough, Nintendo has decided to release a new version of its handheld device that employs a full three exciting dimensions.
Tentatively titled the Nintendo 3DS, the device will be able to generate a 3D image without the need for special glasses. Thus far, details are thin on the ground besides the fact Nintendo plans to release the model sometime next year, although it’ll showcase the new product at E3 in June 2010.
Nintendo is clearly hoping to emulate the success of its existing portable games devices, the DS series, which according to the New York Times, has outsold Sony’s PSP by a factor of two to one.
