News: New Eee from Asus – with a twist

Due for release in New Zealand towards the end of August, the Eee PC T91 sports an 8.9-inch swivel touch-screen and a suite of touch-optimised software that enables users to get the most out of finger or stylus input.
Asus claims that the T91 transcends other models in its class while “outstripping its competitors in terms of being the first to market with cutting-edge innovations.”
The Eee T91′s touch-screen and tablet PC form factor means that the device doesn’t have to be used on a flat plane such as a table. With the T91 folded flat, it can be used while standing up, allowing users to read notes, sketch ideas directly onto the screen, chat or surf the Internet. And even walk while doing so.
The T91 has a software application known as TouchSuite allowing a myriad of fun tasks with fingertips, such as touching up photos, creating photo albums, leaving handwritten desktop memos, or sketching cartoons and emoticons.
It measures just 225cm by 164cm, and weighs a mere 96kg, making it one of the smallest and thinnest gadgets with an 8.9-inch display. It also features Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth connectivity.
The T91 also features the new Super Hybrid Engine, which reduces energy consumption by up to 15 percent, and letting users enjoy up to 5 hours of continuous usage with each charge.
The Eee PC T91 will retail for $1099.
