News: HP introduces three new Touchsmart PCs

HP has introduced three new TouchSmart PCs with “multi-touch” functionality.
These are the TouchSmart300 All-in-one Desktop PC, the TouchSmart600 All-in-one Desktop PC, and the TouchSmart tx2 Notebook PC.
The desktop models offer a choice of 20 or 23-inch diagonal widescreens featuring high definition multi-touch widescreen display.
The new range features the new HP TouchSmart 3.0 software suite which enables optimisation of the touch user interface.
“The whole point of touch is to make the computing experience less intimidating and make computers easier to use,” says Brent Kendrick, General Manager, Personal Systems Group, HP NZ. “The new range of touch products amplifies the natural and comprehensive touch-optimised UI and experience for its consumers through the new HP TouchSmart 3.0 software suite.
“HP’s goal is to offer natural human interfaces which enable the PC to learn and adapt to the person, so the person doesn’t have to adapt to technology.”
HP TouchSmart 3.0 enhancements allow a high degree of personalisation with customisable tile bar and home backgrounds. Built-in applications let the user experience music, photos and video in a rich and rewarding way.
The new swivel stand and tilt Web cam increase the ability to share and collaborate around the TouchSmart PC.
While the TouchSmart600 has all the bells and whistles, the TouchSmart300 is created for consumers who desire a slightly smaller form factor but the same multi-touch interactivity. Lastly, the TouchSmart tx2 Notebook is an update on the industry’s first convertible notebook PC with multi-touch technology designed specifically for consumers.
The TouchSmart600 retails from $2999, while the TouchSmart300 starts at $2499, and the TouchSmart tx2 gets the ball rolling at $1999. All models will be available from 22 October.
