News: High-tech antics in new TV show

No, it’s not about hairdressing. Fringe – which starts this week on TV2 – is a new science fiction series from JJ Abrams (Lost), Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Alias) that has created waves in the US.
The series follows an FBI Fringe Division using unorthodox science to investigate “the Pattern”, a series of unexplained, often ghastly occurrences taking place all over the world.
The show has been described as a cross between The X-Files, Altered States, The Twilight Zone, and Dark Angel.
Connected to “the Pattern” is Massive Dynamic, a leading global research company that holds the patents for a number of new and important technologies. Their enemy is ZFT, a bioterrorist organisation.
Fringe debuts on TV2 this Wednesday, 1 July at 8.30pm.
