News: Free software simplifies video calls

« Just Buried (Universal) | High-tech antics in new TV show »

Noting the frustration of those who can see the benefits of video calling, but are frustrated by the challenge of getting the hardware and software to work, Logitech claims it has come up with the answer.

Logitech Vid is being promoted as a fast and easy way to make true-to-life video calls.

It’s free, the only catch being that you have to own a Logitech webcam.

The company says that Logitech Vid can be set up in less than half the steps required by the major instant messaging programs.

Logitech Vid optimises the speed and resolution of the video call.

“Vid is truly a simple and easy to use application to help people stay in touch with their loved ones. No more frustrating challenges that come with video calling”, says Bryan Simpson, General Manager of Logitech New Zealand.

“You don’t have to be tech-savvy and you don’t have to worry about complicated registration processes before you are connected to video call your loved ones,” says Simpson. “Above all, Vid will provide the top quality audio and video that you expect from Logitech.”

Logitech research revealed that the overwhelming reason many people do not make video calls is that they are frustrated by complex software.

Logitech Vid is available for free download at www.logitech.com/vid
