News: DRINK. new iPhone guide to London’s most stylish bars

« Mac Attack | Google Labs introduces Similar Images (with video) »

According to City-guide publisher Deck of Secrets, DRINK. makes impressing clients, girlfriends or boyfriends easy. Simply fire up the application, and your iPhone GPS will prioritise the closest bars in the guide. Choose a venue and the guide shows you pictures from inside, a well written profile of the bar, and a number of options. There are four buttons that offer the ability to 1) Call the venue 2) Email a friend to invite them to the venue 3) Add the venue to your address book, with a picture of the bar, or 4) Visit the venue’s website.

Once you have settled on the bar of your choice, users can get directions using the GPS in the iPhone with Google Maps. This will help you navigate the backstreets of London’s West End, or help you decide whether to walk or get a bus or a taxi.

The list of over 75 bars has been compiled by some of London’s best bar industry professionals. Including Ed Sullivan, the former Drinks Correspondent for the Evening Standard, Robbie Bargh of the Gorgeous Group, designers of bars and restaurants, and Hannah Sharman-Cox who works with Diffords Guides. Thus ensuring only the top calibre bars are included.

The Deck of Secrets series was originally released as playing card sized information for bars in Melbourne. Bar Secrets Melbourne (over 105,000 units sold) was the first title in a deck of cards format and remains the most popular. DRINK. London is now in it’s third edition, though this is the first iPhone version.

Availability

The Deck of Secrets guides for the iPhone represent a series of premium applications with original, highly refined content, great images and elegant design. $3.99 USD, £2.39, €2.99, $4.99 AUD, ¥450. All applications commence with a minimum of 52 original profiles and will increase as new venues open up and downloadable updates created.
