News: Demo store opens in Parnell

It’s good news week! A new high-end audio visual store has just opened in Parnell – The Demo Room is a partnership between Linn New Zealand, Storm Distribution and Image Loudspeakers. In a matter of weeks, the new store has been transformed from a rubble filled building site into a very plush high class operation with multiple listening rooms, which stocks some major brands including Linn, Arcam, MIT cables, Acoustic Energy and Image. There’s considerable industry experience onsite as well in the form of Dean Harnish and John Ellingham from Linn, Phil McIsaac of Storm and Chris Ball from Image; these gentlemen are taking the attitude that world class audio visual gear sells itself if it’s demonstrated properly (hence the name of the store). All the demo rooms are single speaker only and the plan is for clients to come in spend some quality time with the systems and their music or DVDs and a good cup of coffee. The Arcam/Image combo is quite beguiling and who would miss the chance to hear the amazing Linn Klimax Aktiv loudspeakers we reviewed in this issue? It’s a bold move given the economic times but the crew at The Demo Room seem confident that they’ve got a point of difference and that they’ll do well. We applaud them. After all, fortune favours the brave.
