News: B&W releases sequel to its distinctive Zeppelin iPod speaker

B&W has announced the sequel to its distinctive Zeppelin iPod speaker system.

The Zeppelin Mini Compact Ipod Speaker follows up on the promises of its predecessor: superb design, together with the kind of audio fidelity B&W is famed for in the high-end hi-fi world.

The original Zeppelin has garnered a glowing array of awards and rave reviews since its release two years ago. The new Zeppelin Mini claims the same high standards in both sound quality and design, but it’s in a more compact form. Despite the size, Bowers & Wilkins reckon it can reach astonishing volume levels for such a diminutive piece.

Key differentiating features include an updated docking arm, with the addition of USB connectivity, allowing the Zeppelin Mini to bypass the analogue output stage of any compatible iPod, thus providing access to the best digital sound the iPod has to offer.

New technology includes Flowport, which combines with digital advances such as Digital EQ to provide a clean, room-filling sound with astonishing bass levels.

The Zeppelin Mini also adds the ability to stream music direct from PC or Mac via its dedicated USB socket.

Available from December, the Zeppelin Mini will retail for $799.
