Gadgetman: 8GB of Mobile Data a month!

« PS3 Motion Sensor Moved | Motorola to Release 30 Androids »

New_Telecom_logoWhilst pursuing the pages of Telecom’s website (I was actually looking for their special on the USB ‘T-Stick’ they have; a mobile broadband device that comes with 500MB of data allowance for just $99 on pre-pay), I came across some pricing for mobile broadband.  I am not a big user of these services anymore, due to large data requirements at home (4 very active Internet users) and having Internet access at work.

However what surprised me was the data allowance.  Normally mobile broadband allowances are pretty small, especially compared to fixed line plans, however Telecom are offering a doubling of the 4GB / month to 8GB / month for free for 2 years, for only $69.95 (or $79.75 if your not a Telecom customer), which is a large allowance, and shows that businesses may finally be listening to the pent-up demand for large data allowances on mobile devices.

After all with so many devices that allow large file transfers (iPhone, Nokia N97, The ‘Google’ Phone, Netbooks with 3G, Android devices etc) it’s about time we stopped paying $10/MB.

Good on Telecom (this time anyway).
