Brett Gideon: Theophany Auckland Showroom Opening
Editor Gary Steel and I went to the opening of the Theophany Loudspeakers showroom at Ashton Grove in Newmarket yesterday afternoon. Garth, Steph and Josiah Murray from Theophany were in attendance doing demos from the late afternoon onwards.
Besides a good range of the Theophany speakers from the tiny Epiphany models to the big flagship M5 Series 2, there were some interesting components in the rack – firstly the new Roksan Kandy K2 integrated amp and CD player and secondly, version 2 of the NZ made Sachem monoblock power amps, looking better in a dark silver finish than they do in black but then again, the Sachems are about sonics and nothing else (the Theophany/Sachem combination is what I use at home and frankly, they can have it back when they pry it from my gold dead hands).
The evening included demos of stereo and home theatre setups using different sources, amps and speakers and it was by all accounts a success, with orders being taken and even the showroom demo speakers being snapped up by those who couldnt wait for stock to be shipped from the South Island.
