Brett Gideon: Resurrected

I picked up my Marantz CD6000OSE last week after it was seen to by the agents. Turns out the laser is OK (phew) and the problem was related to the disk tray. Some minor work was all it took to get it up and running (100 bucks including cleaning the optics and lubricating the mechanism – better than a bill for a new laser).

Ah that sweet Marantz sound! I’m very happy indeed to have it back but I suppose I should be thinking about what I’d replace it with if it did expire for good…..

Then again, with multiple amplifiers wandering in and out of my place (a long story) and an imminent seismic shift in my speaker situation (a longer story), I’m going to put CD players out of my mind and worry about the real issues.
