Brett Gideon: IN TESTING – Cambridge Audio One DX1
Another TONE review product that ended up at my place recently is the Cambridge Audio One DX1, which is CA’s all in one micro receiver (a la Arcam Solo Mini). It’s a very neat little unit, looking particularly good in CIA black to these jaded eyes and it’s got a pile of features like:
FM/DAB radio
USB and SD card inputs
3.5mm input
2 x RCA inputs
Subwoofer out (very handy)
CD player
iPod dock
As expected, the price ($1,199) seems very reasonable for the feature set on hand and the initial impressions around performance and functionality are impressive. The supplied iPod dock (i.e. not an extra cost optional extra) is a real standout and in conjunction with the great remote control, I think I’ve used my iPod more since I placed the One on my rack than I’ve ever used it at home before.
The full review will follow in issue 76.
