Brett Gideon: Blogging? Sorry, too busy listening.

« Unusual names deemed fake by Facebook | Muse – Haarp – 71 »

I’ve been horribly negligent of my blogging responsibilities lately (as Editorial Tyrant Steel keeps pointing out) but it’s not because I’ve run out of things to say, anyone who knows me knows that’s not likely to happen.

I’ve just hit such a sweet spot with my hi-fi system that I can’t find the will to tear myself away from the CD and record collection, not even to put two fingers to keyboard to blog about what I’m seeing and hearing out there in technology land. Still I suppose I better make an effort before the aforementioned dictator suspends my writing privileges.

The setup is as follows:
Modified Technics SL1210M5G with Rega RB300 arm
Dynavector DV20X-L MC Cartridge
Dynavector P75 MkII phono stage in Dr. Tominari’s phono mode

Marantz SA8260 SACD player
Yamaha A-S2000 integrated amp (used as pre amp)
Viganoni and Viganoni Sachem three box monoblock power amps

Replica Spider rack with a mix of Rimu and acrylic shelves and various isolation widgets

Theophany M5 Series2 floorstanders

Nordost Blue Heaven speaker cable
Slinkylinks silver interconnects
Monster interconnects
Nordost Shiva/Magus/Vishnu power cords

The system sounds so good that I’m actually scared to change anything, which is probably the first time I’ve ever felt like this, While I’ve toyed with the idea of a Naim preamp, which I think would be a good match with the Sachems, I don’t want to upset this new found equilibrium.

How strange. Is this what audiophile contentment feels like? Maybe I no longer suffer from Audiophillia Nervosa, the terrible disease that eventually causes insanity, credit card abuse and the donning of a brown cardigan?
