Articles: Canon’s new EOS makes creative photography seriously fun

Canon New Zealand has launched their new EOS 500D digital SLR camera. Described by Canon as its most creative and powerful entry-level digital SLR (DSLR), it appears that they are targeting the middle and bottom ends of the photographers spectrum. They say that the EOS 500d is aimed at DSLR users wishing to upgrade, but pitch it as an ideal camera for first-time DSLR users to grow into. A good pitch with all their bases covered. However, the good thing about the Canon EOS 500D is that it’s packed full of features including: full high definition movie recording, live view shooting with face detection, 15.1 megapixels CMOS sensor, DiG!C 4 image processor, and ISO speed range of 100-3200, and a 3-inch fine detail LCD monitor.
“The EOS 500D boasts a Canon first for entry-level DSLR cameras with the inclusion of Full High Definition resolution movie recording, which allows users to get creative and expand their shooting capabilities,” says Rochelle Mora, Brand Manager – Consumer Imaging Products Group, Canon New Zealand.
The EOS 500D (RRP $TBC) will be available throughout New Zealand from Authorised Canon New Zealand resellers in late May 2009.
